We are very proud of our site in Claudius Crozet Park. We are particularly proud of its environmentally friendly features:
- We have refurbished an existing, largely unused building in cooperation with the Park Board, making no new impact on the landscape.
- We have placed our classrooms near the windows in order to maximize natural lighting.
- We have used environmentally friendly materials, including sealed oriented strand board for all our walls, a wood laminate floor, and fluorescent light bulbs in all the new fixtures. In addition, we have installed a digital thermostat making it possible to heat the building only during school hours.
- We are the only area independent school providing transportion for students on a daily shuttle bus (with most taking advantage of it), thus limiting fuel consumption.
- Our facility remains available to community groups when school is not in session. Our classrooms can be broken down and packed away, making ours an excellent space for community events and maximizing its usage.
- We recycle paper, glass, and plastic in our school, and use only recycled paper for copying.
- We are currently developing our own independent campus--designed to be an environmentally responsible, carbon-neutral campus. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more.
